Social Security Statement Policy Change

May 24, 2014

Beginning in September of 2014, the Social Security Administration will resume sending paper Social Security Benefit Statements in the mail.  Paper statements will be mailed to workers at ages 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and older. If you've signed up to view your benefits statements online, you will not get the mailed statement.

If you prefer to view your statement electronically and would like to opt out of receiving paper mail, please register for an account at http://socialsecurity.gov/mystatement.

As a reminder, you may elect to receive your Social Security Retirement Benefit as early as age 62.  However, this may not be an ideal time for you to file based on your situation.
